We’re looking for a skilled Mold Shop Manager, who will oversee all aspects of production tooling activities, including mold design, mold making, insert making, and mold repair. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of the properties of different materials to properly initiate the design and construction of molds that will effectively shape the material being used in plastic injection.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and safety standards in the Mold Shop Department
• Coordinate staffing changes and employee training to keep the Mold Shop running efficiently
• Oversee mold making projects and ensure that specification and the planned schedules are kept
• Provide support to the Development Department during the development stage of new projects for efficient mold making process and production
• Supervise the development of new molds (2D/3D design, construction, progress planning, etc.) and give required measures for improvement
• Execute mold improvements for projects based on OEE data and profit ratio (CSP)
• Monitor and initiate the mold flow simulation for finding the best runner set up
• Frequently give update to related Departments about the mold making process
• Provide guidance and direction to employees in dealing with mold-making problems and issues
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and repair of equipment and production tooling
• Continuously check the quality and quantity of molds for new projects
• Supervise the test injection of new molds and verify the quality of parts, function, and handling of molds
• Monitor the production tooling and mold making costs
• Prepare Planned Cost Break Down of molds for new projects and compare it with the Real Cost Break Down
Job Requirement
• University degree in Mechanical Engineering, or any related field
• At least 3 years working experience in a management position related to mold construction and injection molding
• Experience in the sports shoe industry are preferred
• Knowledge in 3D CAD software required
• Knowledge about Lean systems (e.g., Six Sigma) beneficial
• Very good language proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) is a must
• Skilled in handling Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, etc.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills are compulsory
• Self-motivation, ability to work independently and an attitude of continuous improvement
